I have heard so many variations about what the housing market is going to do this year that I can’t even count them!  I have read that prices will still go down.  I have read that prices may go up (a little). I have read that prices will be flat. I have read that sales will be up and prices down. You get my point? Analyst are all over the place.

I actually saw an article today with the title: The Housing Market WILL Recover in 2012.  I thought, “Yikes!”  I would never make a statement like that given what the market has gone through over the past few years. I am a total optimist, but I also don’t want my clients to have false hope.

The reality is this: Real Estate is LOCAL. LOCAL. LOCAL. National numbers don’t say anything about where WE are, or where we will be.  When a client tells me, “I saw on the news that prices are going up.” I groan inside a little, because I know their market, and that isn’t the case there, in that neighborhood, but since the news said it…..must be true.

If you want to know how the market is doing, ask a Realtor (like me!).  Oh, and I don’t have a crystal ball, so I have no idea what is going to happen this year.  I do know this, I still love being in Real Estate!
